In 2018 , there were 13,784 patent applications, including 6,103 invention patent applications; and 16.27 valid invention patents per 10,000 people. The number of patents granted was 7768, of which 2604 were for inventions. The registration amount of technology contracts was 12.4 billion yuan, an increase of 29% over the previous year.
There are a total of 200 inspection and testing institutions in the city and 4,351 certificates of quality management systems have been issued. There are 7 legal measuring technical institutions, and an installed base of 257,700 measuring instruments are subject to compulsory verification throughout the year. Eleven local standards were formulated and revised throughout the year.
There are 30 colleges and universities in the city, with 285,000 undergraduate and junior college students; 7 adult education institutes, with 42,000 students; 79 secondary vocational schools, with 68,000 students; 75 ordinary high schools, with 9,1000 students; 713 schools in the nine-year compulsory education, with 449,000 students; 1,326 kindergartens, with 169,000 children. The city’s 3-year preschool enrollment rate is 98%, the primary school enrollment rate is 99.8%, the junior high school enrollment rate is 99.9%, and the gross enrollment rate in senior high school education is 99%.
